Malaga and province will enjoy the Davis Cup

The president of the Malaga Provincial Council, Francisco Salado, participated in the presentation of the finals of the Davis Cup by Rakuten Finals 2022 and assured that holding this competition “is a party for the province”. All fans, whether they have a ticket or not, will be able to visit the surroundings of the Martín Carpena, where commercial tents, children’s play areas and a stage for performances will be set up.

In the presentation, which took place in the Hall of Mirrors of the Malaga City Hall, the mayor of the city, Francisco de la Torre; the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the Junta de Andalucía, Arturo Bernal; and the director of the Davis Cup Finals, David Ferrer.

Salado affirmed that the city and the province have already demonstrated their capacity to host large-scale international events and recalled that this final phase is “the last great tournament of the year”.so it will attract the attention of all tennis fans.

“The ‘Carpena factor’ is going to be a plus for the players, who are going to feel supported throughout the competition”he affirmed, while assuring that Spain has “A good team, very competitive, with top class players like Pablo Carreño or Roberto Bautista”.

Italy, the United States, Germany, Canada, Australia, the Netherlands, Croatia and Spain will compete for the title from November 22 to 27 and the organization calculates that half of the public that will attend the finals will be foreigners, with a large presence of Dutch and Italian.

The president pointed out that hoteliers handle data that makes them optimistic in November and December and that, according to his forecasts, Davis will also have a significant impact next week in the capital, where hotel occupancy will be 85% at starting thursday. “All this work, which materializes in the celebration of other very important competitions for the province such as the Solheim Cup 2023, is undoubtedly contributing to the recovery of the tourism sector,” said Salado, who had words of remembrance in memory of Manolo Santana.
