After getting a big win against Afghanistan in their first match of the World Cup, Bangladesh faced a big defeat against England in their second match. Experienced batsman Mahmudullah Riyad was not kept in the team against England. Which is being criticized.
Former Tigers captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza called on everyone to support the team in bad times. At the same time, he thinks that Mahmudullah Riyad may be out of the XI for the New Zealand match.
Mashrafe made a post on his personal Facebook account on Tuesday. There he said that Riyad may be out of the eleven in the New Zealand match. However, the former successful captain also highlighted his rationale behind this.
Mashrafe feels that the Chennai wicket will be very helpful for the spinners. And in that case, the team may arrange the eleven with an additional spinner. Due to which Riyad may have to sit on the bench against the Kiwis.
Mashrafe wrote in his post, ‘It would have taken an incredible day to beat England. This mistake, that mistake is of no use. A very big tournament, so there is no point in reading about this match. Maybe some more runs could have been scored in the batting. But since it is a point game, there is no difference between losing by 134 (137) runs and losing by 1 run. Now is the time to support the team, even if the good times are away.’
In his post about Riyadh, Mashrafe wrote, ‘Of all the wickets being played in India, Chennai is number three in terms of turning wickets. In the turning graph I saw 2.90 degree turn on this wicket. Opponents New Zealand are certainly one of the best teams, but we are also a very good side on turning wickets. If the wicket is slow and turns a bit, Riyadh may have to sit out again. Anyway, that’s a matter of management.’
