The Clausura 2023 closes the curtain on its regular season and León reaffirms itself as a candidate for serious things in the league, after beating Tigres 3-0 at the Nou Camp, within Matchday 17 of the championship.
Nicolás Larcamón’s group, which has just fallen in the first chapter of this trilogy of duels, now took advantage of the fact that the university students kept some weapons and gave him the first setback in the era of Robert Dante Siboldi.
In the first instance, José Alvarado managed to open the scoring at minute 16, with a cut behind the Tigres and a low shot that beat Nahuel Guzmán.
La Fiera was the owner and lord of the ball, against Siboldi’s team, who could not find a connection and failed at key moments to try to do damage. In addition to the fact that names like Diego Lainez and Nicolás Ibáñez stopped weighing.
In the last breath of the first half, León increased the lead, after a great header from Brian Rubio, at minute 44.
In the second half, Siboldi shook the squad looking to respond and go for the tie, but it was not enough against the Panzas Verdes, who were motivated.
The win came to fruition at minute 66, when Yairo Moreno made the entire play on the wing and gave the ball to the young Héctor Uribe, who shot Nahuel Guzmán.
With the result, León reaches 30 points and closes the regular season in sixth position, while Tigres is left with 25 points and will have to settle for seventh position.
But the rivalry does not end here, after on Wednesday May 3 they will meet in the final chapter, in the second leg semifinals of the Concacaf Champions League, where Tigres leads 2-1.
