“Culers, be calm,” said the Barça leader, who has not resorted to any of the club’s official channels, as he did, for example, in the first message as soon as the scandal of the relationship with the former referee leader was known since 2001 to 2018. “Barça is innocent of what they are accused of”, he stressed laporta.
Not only is he “innocent”, as the Barça president has reiterated, but he is also “the victim of a campaign against his honor in which everyone is now involved”, referring, perhaps, to Madrid, although he did not want to mention it in no time. He therefore maintains laporta the same line of argument that he has been using in the three appearances he has had on the Negreira case.
Each one in a very different way. First, it started with a video on the official Barça channels. Later, an institutional statement at the Camp Nou after an act where he admitted that he had documented the relationship with the companies of Enríquez Negreira and his son. Later, at a discussion lunch at the Círculo Ecuestre in Barcelona, in which he denounced that there is “a campaign” by LaLiga and the CVC to financially suffocate the entity, forcing it to become a SAD (Sports Limited Company).
Despite the dimension that the Negreira case is acquiring in which Barça paid almost seven million euros to the then vice president of the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA), laporta he has not been surprised by all that is happening. “No surprise, we will defend Barça and demonstrate the club’s innocence.”
But his message, written in Catalan, Spanish and English, did not end there. “Many will have to rectify,” said the president, convinced that this campaign against the club will not get away with it.
