Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan Review: Forced story, loose action, slow pace, Salman Khan’s film sends fry

Overall, the purpose of Salman Khan’s films is the same and that is family entertainment. Bhai is close to his family and wants to bring his fans closer to that family. Then he makes masala as well as family entertainer films. He has once again tried the same with his new film ‘Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan’. After four years, Salman Khan has appeared on the big screen. This film is exactly as expected from his comeback.

The film ‘Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan’ is the story of a person who has no name. His brothers (Raghav Juyal, Siddharth Nigam, Jassi Gill) started calling him Bhai in his childhood and gradually he came to be called Bhaijaan (Salman Khan). Bhaijaan lives in a slum in Delhi. He is accompanied by his brothers Luv, Ishq and Moh. The irony of brother’s life is that he has not been able to settle down because of these three things.

Some nameless but funny neighbors also live in his small neighborhood. But this settlement is being monitored by an MLA (Vijendra Singh), who wanted to take advantage of the land by grabbing it. Bhaijaan takes care of this colony along with his brothers. In such a situation, only Bhaijaan will stop the MLA, because he is not only Bhaijaan but also Superman. He lifts the vehicle with one hand and straightens it. And even before beating the goons, they show them their future. Bhaijaan is not afraid of anyone. Rather, they are small enough to create fear in others. That’s why before killing the goons, they ask why you are forcing your old parents to carry your bier.

Bhaijaan is not married yet. In this affair, his brother is also dying a bachelor. Everyone has their own girlfriends. But everyone is scared to settle down and tell Bhaijaan what is in his heart. One day all the brothers together pray to God and immediately Bhagya aka Bhagyalakshmi aka Baigi (Pooja Hegde) enters their colony. Bhagya and Bhaijaan slowly start liking each other. Now the time has come for Bhagya to introduce Bhaijaan to his Annaya (Venkatesh), here comes the twist in the story. A gangster is behind Bhagya’s Annaya Balakrishna Gundamaneni. It is better if you do not know the back story of this gangster. So yes, long story short, because Bhagya’s family is brother’s family, so they are ready to play gangster.

There are many twists and turns in this story. You will get to hear dialogue upon dialogue, out of which my and Bhaijaan’s favorite is- ‘Sahi ka hoga sahi, wrong ka wrong, dua mein hai bada, Vande Mataram’. You get to hear this dialogue many times in the film. And in the dialogue of Vande Bhaijaan, Vande Mataram is always spoken by the people around him. Salman Khan has also given references of his old films in ‘Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan’. He is also reminded of his first love and the principles of friendship from ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’.

Bhagya believes Bhaijaan to be a non-violent person. But when Bhaijaan kills the goons by stabbing them in his name, then he comes to know that the scene is different here. Not only Bhaijaan but his brothers named Luv, Ishq and Moh are also ahead in the scuffle. Non-violent brother’s sister Bhagya was about to lose her senses. Hey that man can do a lot. Lifting a jeep with one hand, breaking people’s heads with heavy dumbbells are common things for him.

The first half of this film is fine. But does not have the power to keep you connected. You are heard many songs in the first hour of the film itself. In the midst of this, it is very difficult to tolerate Bhagya and Bhaijaan’s romance. When the story of the film shifts from Delhi to Bhagya’s house in Hyderabad, there is a South Indian twist in the story. This is where you get to hear songs like Yentamma and Bathukamma. The second half of the film is very slow. The real twist comes in the film only after the interval. It is from here that the fight between the enemy and the hero has to take place. But the pace of the film is so slow that during action scenes you just think of going home and sleeping. At least that’s what happened with me. Other people in the theater were also yawning.

The film’s villain Nageshwar (Jagapathi Babu) has come up with a very useless back story. But he definitely brings tears to Bhaijaan with his antics. In one scene, he even becomes Arya Stark of ‘Game of Thrones’ series. Exactly in Arya’s style, he attacks Bhaijaan with a knife. By now you must have understood that there is nothing special in the story of the film. There is a lot of power in its action scenes, but the pace of the film lightens their effect. You will get to see many stupid things in this film. Like the characters running in front of them in the midst of a barrage of bullets. Bhaijaan and MLA challenging each other despite standing far away from each other (Hey, how are you hearing each other’s words from such a distance? You are speaking so slowly!).

You have heard the songs of the film. Its story which was in the trailer is the same. Some fun parts have been shown in it, which makes you laugh. But beyond that this film does not give you anything. What to say about the actors. Salman Khan is back with the same swag. His work was good. In this film you will get to see an emotional Bhaijaan. Siddharth Nigam, Raghav Juyal and Jassi Gill are also fine in the role of his brother. Pooja Hegde’s work is nothing special. Palak Tiwari has done a good job. Apart from them, Shahnaz Gill and Vinali Bhatnagar also could not do anything special. If any female character has such power then it is Rohini Hattangadi. He has done wonders in his small role. The performance of Jagapathi Babu and Venkatesh was also good.

Don’t know why director Farhad Samji decided to make this film. But there is absolutely no power in his direction. Salman Khan is back on the big screen after four years. But there is nothing different and special fun in his film. The theatrical release of ‘Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan’ is like the release of a normal film. Neither do you feel special enthusiasm about this film nor is your heart happy after watching it. After it your choice.
