King Felipe VI leads the opening of the RD stand at Fitur 2023

Madrid Spain.- With the presence of King Felipe VI of Spain and his wife Letizia, the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, started the participation of the Dominican Republic in the International Tourism Fair (FITUR 2023), which is being held in this city until 22 of this month.

“You can come to the Dominican Republic with Rolex or Casio,” said Collado, referring to Shakira’s most recent song and the fact that the country has everything and for everyone.

With a stand that stands out as the most attractive in the Pavilion of the Caribbean and Central American countries, the Dominican Republic has a presence together with more than 50 companies linked to the national tourism sector.

What most attracted attention was a space dedicated to an immersive experience of the Dominican Republic, where people can have a three-dimensional experience, entering the majestic beaches of the country, as well as the other tourist attractions on the island and an approach to the work. by Dominican artist Iván Tovar.

Minister Collado inaugurated the stand of the Dominican Republic accompanied by the president of Banco Popular, Cristopher Paniagua, and the administrator of Banco del Reservas, Samuel Pereyra, who gave speeches in which they highlighted the importance of healthy competition in coordination to contribute to development tourism and the national economy.

“Our goal is for the Dominican Republic to continue to be the benchmark in tourism for the continent, which is why we are going to continue innovating and we will exhaust an agenda of more than 60 meetings in these weeks where we will close agreements with airlines, new hotels and tourist investments, as well as tours. operators, so that we can continue promoting the arrival of tourists to our country”, highlighted Collado during the opening of the stand at Fitur.

Among the agreements and announcements that were made this Wednesday, the new investment that will be developed in Macao, La Altagracia province, in the eastern part of the country, by the Pioneer Group, which will begin the construction of a luxury hotel in said destination, stands out. .

Also the signing of agreements with the Iberia airline, with the El Corte Inglés Travel Agency, with the Tui airline and meetings with the tour operators World 2 Fly and World 2 Meet, as well as with the online travel platform E dreams.

The Dominican stand has the presence of more than 52 companies from the tourism sector, as well as cultural spaces and craft exhibitions, and also the presence of national products such as coffee, tobacco, chocolate and rum.

Among those attending the opening of the stand were also Gabriel Escarrer, from Grupo Melía; Encarna Pineiro, from Imberhotel; Frank Rainieri and Haydee Kuret de Rainieri, from Grupo Punta Cana; Adriana Cisneros, from Grupo Cisneros.
