The Bravos de Juárez continue their upward trend in the 2023 Apertura after defeating Pumas 4-1 at the Benito Juárez Olympic Stadium, within Matchday 5 of the championship.
In a frantic match, the border team were a great piece for Antonio Mohamed’s team, and they overwhelmed them in the first half to continue in the upper part.
On a night where the Braves maximized their qualities, it all started with a mistake by Toto Salvio that led to a penalty. At minute 11, Santiago Ormeño ended his scoring drought and scored from eleven steps to beat Julio Rodríguez.
The university students lost concentration, and Diego Mejía’s Braves took the opportunity to increase their lead. In the first instance, Diego Campillo crossed the midfield to take a shot from outside the area that was embedded in the auriazul goal, at minute 33.
Later, the win came to fruition at minute 39. José Manríquez appeared unmarked from a corner kick and scored the third of the night, against some Pumas who paid dearly for their mistakes.
Already in the second half, Mohamed’s team approached by the hand of César Huerta. At 56′, Chino managed to press in the area and scored, in a play that represented an incentive for the university students.
But that revolution in search of a feat ended thanks to a new mistake. Julio González knocked down Avilés Hurtado to decree a new maximum penalty. It was Hurtado himself who ended the match from eleven steps.
With the result, Juárez reaches eleven units after five dates, and on the following day they will face Puebla. While Pumas, who suffered their first defeat of the tournament, was left with six points. On date 6 they will face Tigres at the Olímpico Universitario.
