The first match of the three-match ODI series between India and New Zealand was played in Hyderabad on 18 January. In this match, opener Shubman Gill scored a brilliant double century. Gill played an inning of 208 runs in 149 balls, which included 19 fours and 9 sixes. Shubman Gill remained in headlines during the match, Ishaan Kishan also attracted the attention of cricketers and fans.
Ishaan Kishan jokingly blew the bails over the stumps on one occasion, while the batsman was present at the crease at that time. This happened in the 16th over of the innings bowled by Kuldeep Yadav. On the fourth ball of that over, Kiwi captain Tom Latham played the defense of the ball. It was clearly visible in the replays that there was no contact of Conway’s body with the stumps and he was also in the crease. However, the on-field umpires thought it appropriate to go to the third umpire. A smile appeared on Ishaan Kishan’s face after the replays were shown on the big screen on the ground.

Sunil Gavaskar and Murali Karthik, former cricketers of Team India, did not like this act of Ishaan. Sunil Gavaskar, doing the commentary, said that what Ishaan did is not cricket. Murali Karthik also believed that Ishaan should not have appealed for entertainment. The players of India and New Zealand reacted to Ishaan Kishan and Kuldeep Yadav completed his over. Interestingly, Tom Latham also did almost the same during India’s innings and Hardik Pandya was given out by the third umpire at that time.
