IND vs PAK Asia Cup 2022: Good news before the match against Pakistan, Rahul Dravid joined Team India after becoming Covid negative

In the Asia Cup 2022, Team India is going to start its campaign with a match against Pakistan. Even before this match against Pakistan, good news has come out for the Indian team. Team head coach Rahul Dravid has joined the team after recovering from Covid-19. Now both Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman will be seen in the dressing room during the match against Pakistan. Laxman was appointed by the BCCI as the interim coach for the Asia Cup till Dravid’s recovery.

Dravid turned positive on August 21

Rahul Dravid tested positive for Covid-19 on 21 August before Team India left for Dubai. Due to this, he was living in home isolation in Bangalore. Later Dravid was tested twice for RT-PCR, which turned out to be negative. Due to this, Dravid joined the Indian team in Dubai on the evening of 28 August.

Dravid did not go on Zimbabwe tour

Rahul Dravid being Covid-19 positive was a matter of concern for the team, but now his joining can benefit Team India. Rahul Dravid was also on a break after the recently concluded series against West Indies. National Cricket Academy (NCA) Chief VVS Laxman went as coach in the ODI series against Zimbabwe under the leadership of KL Rahul. India had eliminated Zimbabwe in that series.

India is the current champion of Asia Cup

Meanwhile, India will take on arch-rivals Pakistan on Sunday (August 28). India would like to make a positive start to their Asia Cup campaign by registering a win in this match. India was the champion in the last Asia Cup held in 2018. That season Team India defeated Pakistan twice. However, in the match played between the two teams last year, the Pakistan team won.

Rahul Dravid became the coach last year

Rahul Dravid became the head coach of Team India on 17 November 2021. The Indian team has achieved great successes since he became the coach. Under Dravid’s coaching, India captured the ODI and T20 series in England. At the same time, India also achieved success against teams like West Indies, Sri Lanka, New Zealand.
