Before the presidential run-off elections to be held on Sunday, 28 May, Nation Alliance Presidential candidate and İBB President Ekrem İmamoğlu visited the Thursday market in Bayrampaşa. The tension rose during İmamoğlu’s visit to the tradesmen.
“PKK DO NOT COME”
A shopkeeper said to İmamoğlu, “I don’t want PKK members to come, I don’t want what happened with the PKK.” Upon the complaint of İmamoğlu, who reacted to the tradesmen by saying, “You are immoral,” the tradesmen were detained.
WHY ARE YOU INSTALLED IN THIS NATION?”
Ekrem İmamoğlu, who attended the Bayrampaşa Public Meeting, spoke about the event. Imamoglu said: “Why are you bringing discord in this nation? Why are you bringing this nation against each other? Is it worth the vote, for politics? What you call vote, party, office here is with the discretion of the nation. You cannot deceive the nation. Even if you win today, you will lose tomorrow. How to break someone’s heart and tell a lie to people as if it were the truth?
WHO ARE YOU TO CALL SOMEONE A PKK member?
You may protest or dislike someone. Who are you to call someone a terrorist, PKK member, traitor! I’m not saying give the game to anyone in the market places. I’m in the market place with my mayor ID. I’m in. Good job, I said. First bench. There are no such tradesmen; He says to me, ‘You are from the PKK, I do not want a PKK member’. I warned patiently. He persistently says, ‘You are from the PKK, you are side by side with the PKK’. I said, ‘Then you are from the PKK’. I am ashamed to mention the name of a terrorist organization like that.
“I’M GOING TO LEAVE THAT POOR”
The person who said this to my face, that miserable deceived… Those who cheated on him are the real sinners! I do not sue someone from the society, I seek a solution, but I will sue him. I will fight for my right to the end. I called him ‘immoral, impolite’. What more can I say? Of course, immoral. Why would I say it… Is it my place to speak out against the national feelings of someone here? Can a servant of God submit to this? What are we living for? Don’t we live for our family, our home, our country, our nation, our flag? Who are you to treat me like a terrorist! I’m going to sue that poor guy, but my main account is with those who made him say it!”
