Eden Hazard has announced that he will leave Real Madrid after this season. With this, the Belgian star is going to cancel the contract with Real a year earlier. Club sources have confirmed that Hazard is terminating his contract by mutual consent. After coming to La Liga from Chelsea, Hazard could not match himself at all in the last four years.
Hazard, 32, joined Real in 2019. His signing made the Galacticos the biggest signing in Spanish club history. But he could not settle down at the Santiago Bernabeu due to several injury problems.
Hazard has played just six league games this season, 10 in total. Hazard has won eight trophies in these four years, including the Champions League and two league titles. In addition to thanking Hazard for his contribution to the club, Real also wished him well for the future.
Karim Benzema will remain in Real even if Hazard leaves the club. In a press conference about Benzema, Ancelotti said yesterday, ‘Benzema is ready to play in the last match of the season against Athletic Bilbao. He recovered quickly. He still has one year left on his contract at Madrid. That is why there is no fear about his presence here. This club legend will retire from Real Madrid. I believe all supporters of the club want that. But even then, Benzema must have some thoughts of his own.’
