Hasaranga’s team Kandy faced defending champions Jaffna Kings in an eliminator match on Thursday night. Hasaranga took 6 wickets with 9 runs at an economy rate of 2.70 in 3.2 overs. Which is the best bowling figures in LPL so far.
Some of those dismissed by Hasaranga on the way to the record are well known in world cricket. The six Jaffna batsmen who fell were Chris Lynn, Charith Asalanka, Asela Gunaratne, Mahesh Thiksena, Nuan Thusara and David Miller.
Batting at the start of the match in Colombo, B-Love Candy collected 188 runs for 8 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs. The team’s opener Mohammad Harris played the highest innings of 79 runs from 49 balls. Besides Dinesh Chandimal 41, Wanindu Hasaranga 19, Kushal Mendis 17 and Asif Ali 15 runs.
Jaffna Kings batters could not handle Hasaranga’s whirlwind chasing runs. The team is under pressure after losing wickets one after another. Finally could not overcome the pressure.
