Haris replaced by Iftikhar

Right-handed batsman Haris Sohail has been ruled out for the last three matches of the ongoing five-match ODI series against New Zealand due to a shoulder injury. All-rounder Iftikhar Ahmed got a chance in the team instead.

Haris suffered a left shoulder injury during fielding drills before the first ODI. Later a scan of his shoulder was done. Haris did not get a chance to play in the second ODI even though the scan report did not detect any major problems.

The 34-year-old Harris returned to the ODI team after three years with the ODI series against New Zealand at home in January. Haris kept his place in the team even though he scored 64 runs in the three matches of that series.

This new injury is a big blow for Harris to get a place in the World Cup team. After the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan next August, the Pakistan team has the Asia Cup. Haris played 45 ODIs as a member of the Pakistan team in the 2015 and 2019 World Cups.
