Grupo Piñero launched its Eco-Bahia Foundation in the Dominican Republic. Created in 1999 in Mexico, its objective is to carry out projects of conservation, maintenance and improvement of natural resourcesas well as raising awareness of the importance of environment.
To this end, it has programs for the recovery and management of fauna, promotion of native and endemic flora, conservation of marine resources, reef protection coral and maintenance of protected areas. In terms of awareness, the Foundation’s activity has evolved towards educational actions and environmental awareness with local communities, schools, collaborators, clients and owners of tourist and residential developments.
These projects will now be replicated in the Dominican Republic, one of the most important markets for Grupo Piñero where it has 13 resorts. Specifically, the foundation is already beginning to work on the restoration of the whale watching Balandra Point together with the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (Mimarena) and in the delivery of containers for waste separation in schools of the project Samaná Biodiverso.
Likewise, among its objectives for 2023, the inauguration of composting centers in several locations and cooperation agreements to promote its environmental education initiative and the start of the program of ecosystem restoration.

More than 20 years preserving Biodiversity
Since its beginnings in 1999 with the management of the ‘Program for the Protection and Conservation of Sea Turtles on the Central Coast of Quintana Roo’, the projects of the Eco-Bahia Foundation in Mexico have continued to grow with the aim of increasing the sustainable impact of their actions, reaching the release of more than 110,000 pups sea turtle and attending to more than 1,000 cases of fauna recovery and management.
In addition, the Eco-Bahia Foundation has also created its program of Environmental education, which manages collaborations with local schools, environmental events and scientific research links to publicize the scope and repercussions that human actions can generate in the environment and with this, promote a real change in the habits of all the people who participate in Your activities.
