Google Pixel 8 Pro: First leaked renders show a mysterious new sensor

In previous years, Google has had too much difficulty keeping its new terminals secret before the official presentation. Sadly —for them, of course—, this year they have not been able to avoid leaks either. @OnLeaksIn collaboration with Smart Prixshared the First renders of the Google Pixel 8 Prowhich will presumably be presented during the second half of the year.

In terms of design, there are some important innovations in the Google Pixel 8 Pro. The first thing that stands out is that the screen, which in previous generations had a pronounced curvature on its sides, now has an almost flat surface. On the other hand, rounded corners are now more pronounced.

Lately, we’ve seen more manufacturers jump ship on the curved panels that were a trend a few years back. Samsung, for example, stopped integrating them into the entry variants of the Galaxy S family. The reason? For some users, that curvature generated unwanted interactions when holding the phone; although there were various solutions through software that tried to avoid it.

Another key aspect of the front of the Google Pixel 8 Pro is that, apparently the bezels surrounding the screen are thinner, except for the bottom edge. I mention “apparently” because, as the leakers rightly mention, the perspectives and lighting of the renders could be misleading us in this regard. Therefore, it will be better to wait for official images to verify it.

In terms of dimensions, we are dealing with a slightly smaller device than its predecessor. According to the data provided by @OnLeaks, the Google Pixel 8 Pro measures 162.6mm. high × 76.5 mm. wide × 8.7 mm deep. Its screen would be 6.52 inches, approximately.

Let’s go, now, to delve into the main novelty of the Google Pixel 8 Pro: its photographic section. Although a triple camera is incorporated in the back again, this time the three sensors are together in the same frame. But what really stands out is that in the lower right corner of the bump, just below the flash, there is a fourth sensor.

Unfortunately, at the moment the technical characteristics of the new component are unknown. In 9to5Google play to theorize among the various possibilities, being the macro sensor or the one of depth the most likely options. In fact, it cannot be ruled out that the Google Pixel 8 Pro introduces a renewed autofocus system that, precisely, requires relying on the fourth sensor.

If nothing happens along the way, the Google Pixel 8 and 8 Pro will hit the market later this year. Be careful, we are not surprised that those led by Sundar Pichai offer a first look at the new terminals during Google I / O 2023 -in May-, as happened with the Pixel 7 the previous year.
