Google announced that it will launch a tool to learn English within your Android app. The technology will allow you to practice and improve your English speaking skills through short sessions of between 3 and 5 minutes. The system will offer feedback through personalized comments in real time.
The tool It is activated when we use the search engine to make translations into English. The sessions are interactive and consist of real-life questions for the user to practice the words. Subsequently, Google will analyze your pronunciation and will offer other examples with phrases where you could use them.
Learning a language from the Google app is similar to what Duolingo has offered for years. There is a calendar to schedule your sessions and a list of the words you have learned or practiced. The latter has a color code to identify if we have pronounced the sentence correctly.
To implement custom comments, Google formed an alliance with teachers and specialists in language teaching English. The tool uses authentic context and uses repetition to increase retention. Users will know if their answer is correct, or if it is understandable to an interlocutor.
If you don’t know a word or phrase, you can translate it individually. To avoid the inconvenience of translating out of context, Google will consider the relationship between the words and the sentence. With this, users will understand that some words will have different meanings depending on the place or words they precede.

Google uses artificial intelligence to help you learn English
One of the most important features of this tool is the semantic analysis. Google uses its LaMDA and PaLM models to judge whether an answer is contextually sensible. This is combined with encoder architecture to compare the input with a set of accepted answers.
“A primary goal of conversation is to clearly communicate intent. Therefore, we designed a feature that visually communicates to the student whether their answer was relevant to the context and whether a classmate would understand it,” Google mentions in a blog post of his. “We had to carefully balance this technology to focus on clarity of intent rather than correctness of syntax.”

In practice activities, Google relies on its artificial intelligence to create content. The tool uses its language models to adjust session complexity and adapt to user level. The technology giant has recruited linguists to produce a teaching experience that combines the advances of this technology with real learning techniques.
English practice will be available for users in Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Venezuela, India and Indonesia. This feature will be integrated into the Google app on Android over the next few days, so you’ll just need to keep it updated. The technology company promised to expand it to more countries in the future, although it did not commit to a specific date.
