A fire broke out on the roof of the historical restaurant in the courtyard of Topkapi Palace. Firefighters from many districts were dispatched to the fire, which spread to the entire roof. The fire was extinguished after a long effort by the firefighters.
SPREAD THE WHOLE ROOF IN A SHORT TIME
The fire broke out at around 02:30 in the historical building used as a restaurant in the Bab-ı Hümayun Courtyard of Topkapı Palace for an unknown reason. The fire, which started on the roof of the historical building, spread to the entire roof in a short time.
CUSTOMERS HAVE BEEN DISCHARGED
Customers in a nearby hotel were evacuated as a precaution due to the fire. Upon the notification, many firefighters, health and police teams were sent to the scene.
TAKING CONTROL AND EXTINGUISHED
After the firefighters’ work from different points, the fire was brought under control and extinguished.
EXPLANATION FROM THE NATIONAL PALACES PRESIDENCY
On the other hand, in a statement made by the Presidency of National Palaces, “The National Palaces Fire Brigade Team, who was present in the Palace, performed the first response to the fire that broke out on the roof of the building, which is called the Outer Police Station and operated as a restaurant. With the rapid intervention of the Istanbul Fire Brigade teams, the fire was completely extinguished within 1 hour. “Material damage occurred in the restaurant building after the fire. Museum and visiting activities in Topkapı Palace will continue as normal as of 9:00 am,” the statement said.
