
Portuguese club Benfica failed to win against Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night. The match was drawn 3-3. And after this draw, the semi-final stage was confirmed for Inter. The Italian club has reached the top four with a 5-3 lead over the two legs.
In the first leg, Benfica could not win the match held at their own ground. After winning, they were not even drawn. Benfica lost 2-0 against Inter Milan. As a result, this Portuguese club needed to win the second leg by at least three goals to reach the semis. But it didn’t happen anymore.
The second leg in San Marino was full of excitement. On this day, Inter Milan scored in the 14th minute of the match. Nicolo Barella scored the first goal of the match. Frederic Orsnes equalized for Benfica in the 38th minute of the match. The first half ended 1-1.
Lautaro Martinez gave Inter a relief goal in the 65th minute. In the 75th minute, Lautaro was replaced by another Argentinian, Joaquin Correa, the Inter coach. After three minutes, Correa gave the team a goal.
The victory was almost guaranteed for Inter with a 5-1 lead. But Benfica narrowed the gap at the end. After Antonio Silva scored the second goal in the 86th minute, Peter Musa scored another goal in the 95th minute. They left the field with the consolation of a 3-3 tie in the second leg before the farewell.
