Apple plans an atypical event this October 30 called Scary Fastat the doors of the celebration of Halloween. It will be 100% online, without physical presence in Apple Park for journalists, which will begin at 5 p.m. local, that is, at 1 in the morning on October 31 in Spain.
By the name of the event, by showing the face of the icon of the Finder of Macs and due to rumors that have circulated in recent weeks, the possible launch of new Macs and potentially new chips is expected. Especially the M3 which could debut with the iMac. But now Mark Gurman, who has an impeccable reputation for previewing Apple announcements, has detailed what we will see in the coming days in his newsletter. PowerOn of Bloomberg.
New iMac M3
Apple would present a new iMac, the first update in two and a half years, since the last time the company announced new models was April 2021. According to the Bloomberg report, it will adopt the M3 chips although it is not clear if they will offer more powerful variants.
The new iMac M3 It would arrive with the same number of CPU cores as the M2 chips, that is, four high-performance and four efficiency, but with two additional graphics cores.
In addition, they would present new USB-C accessories, including mouse, keyboard and trackpad, eliminating the Lightning port. Probably new colored USB-C cables, which were leaked months ago.
New MacBook Pro M3 Pro/Max

The new MacBook Pro M3 would maintain the size and design of the versions launched in January 2023, but would be announced with processors M3 Pro and M3 Max. According to Gurman’s report, Apple is testing different versions of the chip. One of them would have a twelve-core CPU, in addition to eighteen graphics cores.
Another version of the M3 Pro that they are testing would have a CPU with fourteen cores, ten high-performance and four efficiency, along with thirty graphics cores.
As for the M3 Max, according to Gurman, the top-of-the-range version would have a CPU with sixteen cores, fourteen high-performance cores and four efficiency cores, along with forty graphics cores.
In addition, 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro configurations would be offered with 24 and 48 GB of unified memory. In any case, all versions of the M3 chip would have improvements via gaming hardware, such as the A17 Pro of the iPhone 15 Pro.
What won’t arrive during Apple’s Scary Fast event
These would be the two announcements of the event. Apple would not introduce new iPadsand these will be reserved for an event in spring 2024, including iPad Pro M3new iPad Air and ipad mini.
Apple would also be working on new MacBook Pro designs with 13- and 15-inch screens, which would also incorporate M3 chips, but we won’t see them until mid-2024. We also won’t see a MacBook Pro base, with M3 chip, during the event Scary Fast.
In short, this is an event very focused on Macs, and on the gradual improvement of chips, with more power, more speed and possibly greater focus on video games. As always, you can read all the news and all the releases first here, in Hypertextual.
