Dominican Republic received 5,000 million cyberattack attempts in 2022

Technology experts indicate that society is constantly evolving due to digitization, which increases productivity and allows the globalization of multinationals. However, this evolution has consequences: cyberattacks.

The Latin American and Caribbean region recorded 360 billion attempted cyberattacks during 2022. The Dominican Republic is no stranger to this reality. By 2022, the country received 5 billion attempted cyberattacks in the past year, according to the FortiGuard Labs Global Threats report.

For Threat Intelligence security chief Derek Manky, organizations need to enable machine learning-powered threat intelligence on security devices. With this methodology, businesses protect themselves against these advanced cybercriminal tactics.

The study prepared by the multinational Fortinet indicates that Mexico received the highest number of attempted attacks with 187,000 million, followed by Brazil with 103,000 million. Meanwhile, Colombia and Peru report 20,000 million and 15,000 million attempts, respectively.

In addition, technological progress represents an opportunity for the development of companies, improving the quality of life of citizens and the creation of new jobs linked to STEM, that is, careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
