Digega grants 12,489 registrations of veterinary products in the country

The Department of Registration of Veterinary Products and Establishments of the General Directorate of Livestock (Digega) granted 12,489 registrations of veterinary products between the years 2022 and 2023.

The agency, which oversees the country’s food safety, also issued 1,317 records of veterinary establishments.

The dependency issued 1,060 certifications to commercialize new, renewed and/or modified national and international veterinary products. Of that amount, 1,010 were veterinary products, 21 of origin and free sale, 25 of export and four of good manufacturing practices, indicates the press release.

The processes are being carried out in accordance with the guidelines of the Government headed by the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, who has given full support to the Dominican agricultural sector with the aim of guaranteeing the food safety and the well-being of the population.

In addition, through the Food Control Section, it carried out different activities, such as: 209 completed food requests, 114 completed food renewal requests, 68 registered food modification requests, 384 food certificates issued, 452 files evaluated and 215 new food numbers assigned.

“We are working so that in the Dominican Republic both producers and consumers have guaranteed quality services and that entities linked to professionals in the vet have the official certifications to operate throughout the national geography”, said the head of Digega, Geovanny Molina.

The agency’s establishment registration area inspects entities for the purposes of registration, renewal, modification or good practices, the statement highlighted.

Likewise, it notifies unregistered establishments and/or with unregistered products.

In addition, the Registries Department is responsible for applying the regulations related to the commercialization of veterinary products, medicines, additives, cosmetics, supplements and raw materials for animal use, as well as the establishments that are dedicated to their commercial activity. among other important functions for the Dominican Republic.
