He National Sports Council of Education (CONDDE) reported that the National Commission for Physical Culture and Sport (CONADE), headed by Ana Guevararefused to provide the necessary budget for the participation of more than 300 athletes in the world universiaderesulting in the first time in history that Mexico will not be present at said event.
In response to the accusations of the COUNT, the CONADE issued a press release denying these accusations and clarifying the situation regarding the athletes who will not be able to attend the World University Games.
According to the statement, the CONADE continues to support the commitments of the COUNTL by disbursing a sum of 50 million pesos on May 19, 2023, intended to cover registrations and participation rights in international events, including the world universiade.
He COUNTL mentioned that 310 university athletes will not be able to represent Mexico in the world universiade due to the belief of CONADE that the budget for the event is excessive. However, in her reply, the CONADE affirms that support has been provided to them and considers the statement issued by the body that accuses them to be fraudulent, which misinforms the community and the public by insinuating that they have not received support with federal resources.
