Chhatriwali Movie Review: ‘Chhatriwali’ is a failed attempt to capitalize on the old story in the name of safe sex

Rakul Preet Singh’s film ‘Chhatriwali’ has been released on Zee5. The first word that came to mind after watching ‘Chhatriwali’ was, ‘Naam bade aur darshan chhote’. There is not one, but many reasons for saying this. Before talking on ‘Chhatriwali’, let us take you in a little flashback. Last year Nusrat Bharucha came up with a film on safe sex. The name of the film was ‘Janhit Mein Jaari’. If you have seen ‘Janhit Mein Jaari’, then you will not have to spend much mind to understand the story of ‘Chhatriwali’.

The film talks about safe sex-sex education
The story of ‘Chhatriwali’ is based on safe sex and sex education. The lead actress of the film is Rakul Preet Singh, who is seen in the role of Sanya Dhingra in the film. ‘Chhatriwali’ begins with the chemistry of Sanya Dhingra (Rakul Preet Singh). Sanya is a simple girl living in Karnal, who has very good knowledge of chemistry. She runs her household by teaching tuition to the children at home. Sanya is looking for a job. One day his search ends. Sanya gets a job in a condom factory on his asking salary.

Sanya’s life changes. Meanwhile, Rishi Kalra (Sumit Vyas) enters. Rishi falls in love with Sanaya and both get married. But Sanya does not tell Rishi that she works in a condom factory. Sanya is about to quit her job, when she comes to know about her sister-in-law’s abortion and miscarriage. From here Sanaya decides that she will spread condom awareness among the people. However, all this is not easy for him. Will Sanaya be able to go against her family and make people aware of using condoms? What happens when Sanaya’s husband learns the truth about her job? To know the answers to these questions, you will have to watch the film.

Chhatriwali’s copy is released in public interest
The story of Nusrat Bharucha’s film ‘Janhit Mein Jaari’, released in 2022, was also based on the need for safe sex and condoms. Exactly seven months later, ‘Chhatriwali’ was also seen repeating the same story. The story of ‘Chhatriwali’ is not at all new for those watching ‘Janhit Mein Jaari’. While watching ‘Chhatriwali’, it felt as if we were watching ‘Jari in public interest’. Same story, same message, even many scenes of the film were copied from Nusrat Bharucha’s film.

While watching ‘Chhatriwali’, it seemed that man, why are we watching the story of the same film again. Believe me, the climax of the film felt like the climax of ‘Janhit Mein Jaari’. Just understand that by changing the star cast, the entire film is a copy of ‘Janhit Mein Jaari’.

Acting-Direction is not special
‘Chhatriwali’ is a multistarrer film. Rakulpreet Singh and Sumit Vyas are the lead stars of the film. Apart from this, there are seasoned actors like Satish Kaushik, Dolly Ahluwalia, Rajesh Tailang and Rakesh Bedi. All these stars fit in their roles. But according to the story, the acting of the important actors is not very impressive. At the same time, the film has been directed by Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar. Here again the point comes that even the direction of the boring story does not seem to be anything special.

why watch the movie
We will say this to film fans that there is no special reason to watch the film. If you haven’t seen ‘Janhit Mein Jaari’, you can watch ‘Chhatriwali’. Yes, even if Rakul is a fan of Preet Singh and Sumit Vyas, this film can be seen.

why not watch the movie
Film lovers are always in search of a good story. That’s why this film of Zee5 is going to disappoint you. It is also a matter of people who have seen ‘Jari in public interest’. Why would he want to waste his time watching ‘Chhatriwali’.

Told so much about the film. It is up to you to watch the rest of the film or not.
