Chennai got off to a great start with the help of two openers chasing runs. The team got the basis of victory in the 87-run partnership of the opening pair. Rituraj Gaikwad scored 35 runs off 30 balls. Later Ajinkya Rahane and Ambati Rayudu were dismissed for 9 runs.
Meanwhile, opener Devon Conway confirmed the win against Meen Ali. He remained unbeaten on 77 runs after completing his personal half-century. And Moeen Ali remains unbeaten on 6 runs.
Earlier, Chennai captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni invited Sunrisers Hyderabad to bat after winning the toss at the beginning of the match.
