Checo Pérez warns Verstappen: “I need to keep the pressure on him”

Sergio Checo Perez had a bad run Monaco Grand Prixwhere he finished in 16th place and missed the opportunity to get close to max verstappen in the drivers’ championship.

However, the Mexican has changed the chip and before the Spanish Grand Prixissued a warning to Mad Max by mentioning that he will no longer let slip more points in order to keep the pressure on him.

I need to be consistent to keep the pressure on Max in the championship and I need to get some wins. I can do it here, victory is achievable and that’s the goal, as always… We know we have the fastest car on the right day and this circuit should be right for us. I just need to make sure that I have a perfect weekend from start to finish”, he declared in interview with Fox Sports.

Along the same lines, the 33-year-old pilot assured that he will seek to reward Red Bull this weekend in Barcelonasince he considers that he has a new opportunity to “start over” after what happened in the Monte Carlo Circuit.

“This weekend is all about starting anew and making sure we get back to the high standards we have set all season. I want to reward my team for all their hard work with a good result in Barcelona,” he said.

It is important to mention that max verstappen leads the championship Formula 1 with a difference of 39 points over Checo Perezwho is second, so the Mexican must surpass his teammate in Spain to reduce the advantage and maintain hopes of winning the serial.
