Checo Pérez becomes the king of overtaking in the season

The first half of the season in Formula 1 ended and although he does not have the lead, Checo Pérez continues to win recognition after his performances in 2023.

Through social networks, the official page of Formula 1 presented his study where he highlighted that Sergio Pérez is the one who achieved the most passes in the first 12 races.

In this report, it is shown that Pérez has managed to recover up to 59 positions in total, leaving behind the British George Russell, who has signed 36. While Max Verstappen has 27 passes so far this campaign.

Among what stands out are the performances in Austria, where he rallied 12 places to take third place, and in Hungary, where he managed to climb six places and reach third place.

Checo Pérez is in second place in the drivers’ championship, with 189 points, only behind his Red Bull teammate Max Verstappen, who has 314 points.

Another recognition for passing

In addition, the man from Guadalajara was also recognized on social networks with the ‘best pass’ in the month of July, which he did at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

In that clash, Pérez passed McLaren’s Oscar Piastri on the outside on lap 47 during the fight for a place on the podium, but the man from Guadalajara took the position with better traction, despite Piastri’s response.

Sergio Pérez finished in third place, while the Briton settled for fourth in Hungary.
