Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced yesterday (Saturday) the names of 21 cricketers under central contract for this year. Now the category and salary of the cricketers is known.
Cricketers are divided into four categories based on their performance and experience. These four categories are ‘A Plus’, ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’.
The salary of ‘A’ plus grade in Test is Tk 4 lakh 50 thousand, in ODI Tk 4 lakh and in T20 Tk 2 lakh 50 thousand. In three formats ‘A’ plus grade pay will get 100% of the first category, 50% of the second category and 40% of the last category. The cricketers will get the highest salary according to the grading in two or one format. As Shakib is in category three, his salary is 7 lakh 50 thousand taka. There is a captain’s allowance.
If someone is in a particular format, he will be given the salary fixed for that particular format. Meanwhile, Tamim, who is in the ‘A’ plus category, will be in Test and ODI, so his salary will be 6 lakh 70 thousand taka. Mushfiqur Rahim has the same salary as Tamim. However, Tamim will get the captain’s allowance.
Shakib is accompanied by Liton Dash, Taskin Ahmed and Mehdi Hasan Miraj in the three formats. All three are in ‘A’ grade. They will get a salary of 4 lakh from Test, 1 lakh 50 thousand taka in ODI and 80 thousand taka in T20.
New additions Zakir Hasan and Hasan Mahmood are in the ‘C’ category. Their salary is 1 lakh rupees. If someone outside the contract gets a chance to play for the team, they will also be paid Tk 1 lakh that month.
