Canelo Álvarez reveals how much he earned in his first professional fight

Saul Canelo Alvarez He is considered by many to be the best pound-for-pound boxer today and is undoubtedly one of the best paid.

However, this was not always the case and it could even be considered that he was very poorly paid for his first fight.

The Cinnamon revealed in an interview with DAZN that the pay for his first fight was just 800 Mexican pesos, something like 40 dollars.

“I won 800 Mexican pesos for that fight. I had to pay half of that in tickets, because my family is very big and they wanted to see me fight,” he said.

“They only paid me half the money for my first fight. I love boxing, and I’ve never done it for money. At that time, I had other jobs. I was alone. He had no children, he had nothing to support and he worked. I didn’t need the money. I just wanted to fight,” added the boxer.

Canelo’s panorama has changed a lot since that distant 2005. This 2022 he will hold three fights for which he will receive 160 million dollars in total, that is, 53 million for each one.

The first commitment of the Guadalajara will be this May 7, when he faces the Russian Dmitry Bivollight heavyweight champion world boxing association (WBA), in Las Vegas.
