A 6.8 magnitude earthquake occurred near the Taiwanese city of Taitung. No loss of life has been reported so far in the earthquake, which was announced as 7.2 and revised as 6.9 by the USGS.

It was reported that the earthquake that occurred at 14:44 local time in Taiwan was recorded at a depth of about 10 kilometers. The earthquake, which was felt in many cities, including the capital Taipei, lasted about 20 seconds. Images of those moments created fear.
A building collapsed in Yuli county of Hualien city due to severe shaking. In the images shared on social media, it was seen that many people took to the streets. On the other hand, Taiwan Railways Administration reported that a platform at Dongli station collapsed and 3 wagons derailed. 20 passengers in the wagons were evacuated.
IT WAS SHAKE YESTERDAY
The USGS announced yesterday that a 6.6 magnitude earthquake occurred about 50 kilometers north of Taiwan’s coastal city of Taitung. There was no loss of life in the earthquake, the depth of which was reported as 10 kilometers. More than 100 people died in the 2016 earthquake in southern Taiwan, and more than 2,000 people died in the 7.3 magnitude earthquake in 1999.
