Brandon Moreno experienced one of the saddest nights of his career, after losing by majority decision to Alexander Pantoja, in the co-main event of UFC 290.
The Mexican, with the defeat, lost the company’s undisputed flyweight belt in his first defense. But everything seems to indicate that there was an important reason why Moreno did not win in Las Vegas.
According to UFC President Dana White, The Assassin Baby suffered an injury against Pantoja, which hampered his performance in the Octagon.
“Brandon Moreno broke his hand in the first round against Pantoja,” and stated that he had to be hospitalized to treat the injury. “Brandon Moreno vs. Alexandre Pantoja was very close. They will face each other again,” said the leader.
Brandon Moreno landed 167 punches in this brawl, and came close to knocking out Pantoja, but the Brazilian dominated the fight thanks to his takedowns (6).
After the defeat, Moreno has a record of 30 fights, of which in 21 he raised his fist to celebrate (5 by way of KO); he also had 7 losses and 2 draws.
