As expected from Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer ‘Brahmastra’, the film’s earnings are going very well. The film has made a gross collection of Rs 360 crore in 10 days at the worldwide box office. The film has earned more than Rs 215 crore in India, out of which the share of Hindi version alone is more than Rs 196 crore.

The second weekend collection of ‘Brahmastra’ running in the second week at the box office is more than Rs 42 crores. The collection of the film, which has earned close to Rs 124 crore in the first weekend, has gone down a lot in the second weekend, but it can still be called decent.

Looking at the earnings of ‘Brahmastra’, now its direct competition is being considered with ‘The Kashmir Files’, which is the biggest Bollywood hit of 2022. But the record of Vivek Agnihotri’s ‘The Kashmir Files’ in terms of second weekend earnings is such, which will not be surprising if it remains till the end of this year.

Record of ‘The Kashmir Files’
Among the Bollywood films that flopped from the line, ‘The Kashmir Files’ did such a miracle at the box office that even trade experts were shocked to see. The Kashmir Files, which started with a collection of Rs 27.15 crore in the first weekend, earned more than Rs 70 crore in the second weekend. That is, the film collected more than two and a half times in the second weekend as compared to the first weekend.

Bollywood’s second weekend in 2022
This year Bollywood films have had to struggle a lot at the box office and after 8 months there are only a few films which can be called hits. Big films like Akshay Kumar’s ‘Bachchan Pandey’ ‘Samrat Prithviraj’, Aamir Khan’s ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’ and Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Shamshera’ himself have faced a drought of earnings this year. A big role in his flop was that in comparison to the first weekend, his box office collection got cold in the second weekend.

In such a situation, the films which took care of the matter in the second weekend proved to be hits. Here is the second weekend collection of hit Bollywood movies of 2022:

1. The Kashmir Files – Rs 70.15 crore
2. Brahmastra – Rs 42.48 crore
3. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 – Rs 30.64 crore
4. Gangubai Kathiawadi – Rs 23.29 crore
5. Jugjug Jio – Rs 13.9 crore

Can ‘Brahmastra’ be a hit?
Mathematics says that compared to the first weekend, the earnings of ‘Brahmastra’ remained only about 34% in the second weekend. Due to this decline, the film fans are guessing that this is a big problem in the way of the film’s hit. But it is not that the film does not get hit due to the speed being so slow.

This year, it has been a trend in the films that proved to be a big hit at the box office that due to the atmosphere, their first weekend was strong, but the second weekend was less collection than that. For example, KGF 2 had earned about Rs 105 crore in the second weekend, which was only about 28% against 380 crores in the first weekend. One more thing to be kept in mind here is that Yash’s film was released on Thursday and its first weekend collection was of 4 days.

Whereas the second weekend collection of RRR, which released on Friday on the normal pattern, was only 43% as compared to the first weekend. It collected around 324 crores in the first weekend and around 140 crores in the second weekend.

Opportunity is in the third week
There will be no big competition film in front of ‘Brahmastra’ in the third week. Sunny Deol, Dulquer Salmaan’s ‘Chup’ will definitely release on Friday, but there is no strong atmosphere for its earnings at the box office. However, it will be a different matter if the film starts with the praise of the people, but it will happen gradually.

In such a situation, before two big films ‘Vikram Vedha’ and ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ releasing on 30 September, ‘Brahmastra’ has every chance to gradually build a big collection. Now it remains to be seen how much this opportunity benefits the film and how much is its lifetime collection.
