Argentina opened their World Cup qualifiers with a 1-0 win over Ecuador at the Mas Monumental Stadium in Buenos Aires. In the 77th minute, Lionel Messi scored a free kick from outside the D box.
Ecuador was playing a very defensive football from the beginning of this day. As a result, the current world champions did not score a goal until 77 minutes. However, despite not scoring, the hosts were in control from the first minute of the match. From possession of the ball to attack – they were ahead in all aspects.
