Manzana It has had a busy week after the presentation of new devices. New MacBook Pros, Mac minis, and even the traditional HomePod have been updated. However, another wave of products is on the way whose purpose is to conquer a constantly growing market: that of connected home.
According to information from Mark Gurman, a journalist for Bloomberg and the most trusted source on future Apple products, the company is developing multiple smart devices underway. Among them, one screen to manage the connected equipment in the home. Therefore, it would be a proposal similar to the Google Nest Hub or the Amazon Echo Show.
Basically, it would be a lower-priced iPad and, therefore, with fewer capabilities compared to the standard model. Apple’s idea is that users use this screen to adjust the lighting or thermostat at home, to mention just a couple of possible examples to configure.
you could even mount it on the wall thanks to a mechanism composed of magnets. Perhaps it will inherit the MagSafe technology that is already present in iPhones and Macs.
Likewise, the new Apple screen would also give priority to communication functions. Therefore, would integrate a camera to make video calls or voice calls via FaceTime.
Gurman explains that, although this device is already in development, it is not ruled out that Apple will try its luck with larger screens – for the moment, without specifying its dimensions – in the future.
The bad news is that his initiative has suffered some postponements and, in the best of cases, the screen will see the light until 2024.

Apple, on the other hand, knows that a huge number of people already have an iPad in their home. In addition, from the Home application you can manage smart devices. For this reason, the company is studying the option of sell special supports to place iPad in certain places. Be careful, it is not the first time we have heard of them.
But Apple’s assault on the connected home isn’t going to be limited to one screen. The aforementioned source adds that a new Apple TV. However, the news from him would not be too significant. I would only embrace a faster processor.
The interesting thing would come later. Gurman says that Apple is aiming to launch a device that combines the functions of Apple TV, HomePod and iPad. All in the same product that may remind you of the Amazon Echo Show 10 —although it does not offer a connection to the television.

Unfortunately, this device is suffering from lag as well – as is the display. Apple’s original plan was to launch it this year, a goal they won’t be able to meet.
Despite the above, Apple has not stopped its intention to gain a presence in the connected home, which is almost entirely dominated by the proposals of Google and Amazon. Today they presented the new HomePod, which among its main novelties boasts the support for Matter. This standard, created by Google, facilitates the configuration and use of smart devices regardless of their brand.
This is, then, just one step in a complex strategy that will begin to bear fruit in the coming years.
