Antequera will be distinguished by the Spanish Olympic Committee with the Olympic Plaque for Sports Merit

The Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) has agreed to grant the Antequera City Council the Olympic Plaque for Sports Merit in recognition of the important work and contribution to sport. The news has been confirmed to the mayor Manolo Baron by the president of the COE himself, Alejandro Blanco, in an official letter recently received and in which he expresses a warm congratulations “for such a well-deserved award.”

In this sense, the city of Antequera adds a new milestone and recognition to the work carried out around the promotion of sport and healthy lifestyle habitswhich already had their previous recognition in the Bronze Plaque of the Royal Order of Sports Merit of the year 2014, the National Sports Award of the year 2016 delivered by Their Majesties the King and Queen or the declaration as European City of Sport 2018.

Now comes the recognition from the most prestigious sports entity in our country, in charge of promoting and disseminating the Olympic Movement and its ideals by managing the Spanish participation in the Olympic Games, now recognizing the work being carried out by the City Council and, specifically, the Sports Area in this regard.
