Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) President Ednaldo Rodriguez confirmed that Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti is still Brazil’s number one choice as Tite’s successor as coach of the national football team.
Tite stepped down as coach after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Since then, Selecao has been looking for a new coach. Despite strong interest from Brazil, Ancelotti intends to stay at Real Madrid until June 2024 under his current contract.
“Ancelotti is a coach who has the ambition and courage to play new talent,” Rodriguez said. I am not disrespecting any other coach. Brazil also has a lot of coaches who have a passion for it. They are also eligible for this post. But we have a plan that perfectly matches Ancelotti’s vision.’
Ancelotti has given Real Madrid the Copa del Rey title this season, despite losing La Liga to Barcelona and Champions League in the semi-finals to Manchester City.
Rodrigues is still optimistic about convincing Ancelotti as the coach of the Brazilian national team, ‘We have the confidence that we can convince him. We have to wait until the end of La Liga. Although Barcelona have already secured the title. But we have to wait until the end of the season. We have to keep our aspirations to get him in the team.’
