Alonso says goodbye to Alpine “with the illusion of a new project”

The Spanish Fernando Alonso (Alpine), who had to leave in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prixthe last of the season, with which he closed his stage in the French team, will face from now on a “new project”, in Aston Martin, with “illusion”.

“The engine once again… I think it was losing water and they told me to stop, so a little summary of the year. We have gone more or less fast in all the races, but there are six retirements“, he commented to Dazn.

The two-time world champion reviewed his DNF record this season, which ended in ninth in the drivers’ standings.

“In Australia it broke in time trial, in Austria it didn’t even start in the sprint, in Canada I ran out of battery… There are not only six dropouts, there are nine or ten”, he listed.

Alonso says goodbye to Alpine to focus on Aston Martin, where he will replace the German Sebastian Vettel.

“I am looking forward to starting a new project, which will be exciting. It will be a much luckier 2023,” he predicted.
