Alcaraz comfortably gets rid of Borges in his premiere at the Godó

The Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz it premiered this Tuesday in the spring season of clay with his debut at the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell-70 Conde de Godó Trophy against him Portuguese Nuno Borgesan appointment in which he also defends the title won last year and in which he starts as the main rival to beat.

The Murcian won comfortably by 6-3 and 6-1 the Portuguese in a match that lasted barely an hour on Barcelona’s center court.

The Barcelona event, in the ATP 500 category, again has a high-level participation, somewhat diminished in recent days by the casualties of its historic winner, Rafael Nadal, that he still does not see himself ready to compete after his injury at the Australian Open, and the Russian Daniel Medvedevwho resigned at the last minute.

Even so, Godó’s team is almost stellar, led by Alcaraz, number two in the world and that he intends to start off on the right foot the set-up that has Roland Garros as its final metal, the second ‘Grand Slam’ of the campaign. At the moment, the Murcian could not be in the Monte Carlo Masters 1,000 due to some discomfort in one hand and in the back and where he cut off his great late start to 2023.
