The Financial Analysis Unit (UAF) inaugurated this Thursday its new headquarters, with the accompaniment of the National Committee Against Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing (Conclafit).
The inauguration ceremony of the building was headed by the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader; the Minister of Finance and President of Conclafit, Jochi Vicente, and the General Director of the UAF, Aileen Guzmán Coste.
Vicente highlighted the responsibility assumed by the Government towards Dominican society to provide the country with an autonomous financial intelligence entity and to ensure the proper functioning of the system for the prevention, prosecution and punishment of money laundering, financing of terrorism and activities that make up the financing of the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
The person in charge of public finances thanked the United States embassy for the donation of 50 computer equipment, various software licenses and the latest generation technological tools that will be part of the equipment of the new facilities. He also mentioned the technical support received from the United States Department of the Treasury.
Meanwhile, Guzmán Coste reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening policies for the prevention and detection of money laundering and maintaining credibility in the reporting system. He highlighted the importance of the new facility, which will allow the UAF to carry out its work more efficiently and effectively.
The members of Conclafit also participated in the event: the attorney general, Miriam Germán Brito; the Defense Minister, Lieutenant General Carlos Luciano Díaz Morfa; the president of the National Drug Council, Major General Jaime Marte Martínez, and the president of the National Directorate for Drug Control, Vice Admiral José Cabrera Ulloa.
In addition, the Superintendent of Banks, Alejandro Fernández; the mayor of the Stock Market, Enmanuel Cedeño Brea, and officials from entities related to the institution and special guests.
The new building of the Financial Analysis Unit is located at Danae street, number 5, in the Gascue sector, in Santo Domingo.
