Mike Tyson, one of the greatest legends of the boxing American, has been sued in the state of New York for a woman who accuses him of having raped her in the early 90s.
The woman claims $5 million in damages, according to court documents filed this month with an Albany city court and released Tuesday.
The claim is based on a law that has opened a one-year period in New York to seek justice for sexual crimes that have so far been prescribed and under which legal actions have also been initiated against other well-known figures such as former US President Donald Trump or actor Bill Cosby.
In this case, the alleged victim claims that she met Tyson at a club in Albany and that she later got into a vehicle with him to go find a friend.
“Tyson immediately started touching me and tried to kiss me. He told him no several times and I asked him to stop, but he kept attacking me. Then he took off my pants and violently raped me“, explains the plaintiff in an affidavit.
The woman, whose identity remains anonymous, does not specify the date of the attack beyond the fact that it occurred in the early 1990s.
In 1991, Tyson was arrested for raping an 18-year-old woman, Desiree Washington.in a hotel in Indianapolis and later sentenced to six years in prisonof which he served just under three in prison.
