A Twitter employee did not know if he had been fired; he ended up tweeting Elon Musk to find out

There is so much chaos on Twitter that even some workers no longer know if they have been fired. This is the case of Halli Thorleifsson, who after several days without having access to her work computer, and after the human resources manager has not been able to confirm if she is still an employee of the company, He has had to ask Elon Musk himself through a tweet if he has been fired.

“Dear Elon Musk, 9 days ago my work computer was cut off, along with 200 other Twitter employees. However, his HR manager can’t confirm if I’m an employee or not. You have not responded to my emails ”, Thorleifsson wrote in a first tweet where he also asked for dissemination to reach the tycoon. Hours later, Elon Musk responded “What job have you been doing?”

Thorleifsson, who was a senior director of product design for Twitter, responded to Musk by stating that he had to break the confidentiality agreement if he told publicly what he has been working on.

Thorleifsson wasted no time in share a list of tasks you’ve been given on Twitter. Among them, leading “the effort to save around $500,000 on a SaaS contract” and “prioritization of design projects across the company” with the goal of being able to meet the objectives “with a small team.”

Thorleifsson, has revealed to the BBC that moments after that tweet, the human resources department contacted him to confirm that he had been fired.

The former employee, who suffers from muscular dystrophy, entered Twitter thanks to the company’s acquisition of Ueno, his creative design startup, in 2021. Now, he fears that Elon Musk will not honor the contract he signed with the company a few years ago and that he will not pay what Twitter still owes him. “This is extremely stressful. This is my retirement fund, a way to take care of myself and my family as my illness progresses. Having the richest man in the world at the other end of this, potentially refusing to keep the contracts is not easy for me to accept ”, he highlighted to the aforementioned medium.
