The real Madrid won much more easily than expected, 93-57, against a weak UCAM Murcia who hardly put up a serious resistance in the first moments of the game.
The crash did not last long, just 7 minutes, the time it took Real Madrid to put land in between on the scoreboard. UCAM took the lead in the first minute of play with a basket by Jordan Davis (1-2) and from then on the team from Murcia completely fell apart. The march of the marker offered no doubt, 16-6 (min.7.30), 21-9 (m.8.30) and 27-9 at the end of the first act.
Madrid in cruise mode it passed over a UCAM without weapons, without reaction power, without energy. Sito Alonso, the university coach, tried almost everything, including changing the five players at once with a minute to go in the first quarter, but he found no solution. Madrid continued to do their thing, without making excesses neither in defense nor in attack, reaching the maximum advantage in the 18th minute with 52-18. At halftime, 52-22.
The score was hard for the visitors, but in the evaluation they came out even worse off with a 42-1 in the first half and 75-5 at the break.
Edy Tavares, Petr Cornelie and Dzanan Musa opened the points lead, but Alberto Abalde and Mario Hezonja held on. At UCAM, little or almost nothing, a basket from James Anderson and little else. With 30 points difference, the Murcians came out to play for their honorwhile Madrid had to make an effort to maintain the minimum tone of competition, something not easy with such bulky markers.
Musa demonstrated his ability to score and Madrid, improvement in the circulation of the ball, while the return of Fabien Causeur covered the injury exit of Adam Hanga. The third quarter ended with 71-43.
In the last ten minutes, Causeur was able to speed up his set-up and Eli Ndiaye had minutes, resting the heaviest before another week with a doubleheader in the Euroleague. The final 93-57 explained the match perfectly.
