The paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, which clashed with the Sudanese army, made a statement today and announced that “based on international, regional and local agreements, they have agreed on a ceasefire as of 06:00 this morning”. In the statement, it was stated that the ceasefire will open humanitarian corridors to evacuate citizens.
UN Secretary General Guterres issued a video message yesterday, calling for a ‘at least’ 3-day ceasefire on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr. On the other hand, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated yesterday that he had separately met with General Burhan (SAF) and the leader of the RSF, General Hemedti, and called for a ceasefire.
