67.7% of the population of San Juan supports environmental impact studies in the Romero mining project, according to the results of a survey by the international firm Gallup.
The report was released by the CEO of the GoldQuest company, Luis Santana, in the context of the annual conference of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) that takes place in Toronto, Canada, this week.
“When I first joined GoldQuest in September 2022, the social situation in the San Juan province regarding GoldQuest and our Romero project was one of rejection, fear, and mistrust. Now we are pleased to inform all interested parties that the current situation has changed significantly,” said Santana.
“As certified by Gallup, we now see the support of the San Juan community to continue with the Romero project. The Romero project and the potential benefits that its full development would bring to improve the lives of the people of San Juan and the Dominican Republic are now well understood by more than two-thirds of the community,” he added.
The CEO of GoldQuest said that, since its arrival in the country, its land of origin, the company has made a commitment to the San Juan community to work in accordance with ethical and transparent guidelines; Taking care of the enviroment.
“We look forward to the comments and pronouncements of the authorities in response to this clear message sent by the community of San Juan. We have been and will continue to seek the approval of the Executive Power to grant us the permit that will allow the phase of the environmental impact studies to begin as soon as possible, ”he said.
