24 hours of non-stop race against cancer in Mijas

The non-profit association based in Malaga, Correr Concienciahas launched a new project called ’24 hours against cancer‘, with the aim of raising funds for the fight against this disease, disseminating the importance of research and promoting sports and healthy lifestyle habits as the main means of prevention. This is an activity that invites participants to take turns in blocks to run on a treadmill without interruption for 24 hours.. The initiative has the collaboration of volunteers, renowned athletes and influencers who will take over all day and all night so that the machine does not stop. People interested in participating can do so in three ways: running, donating or spreading the project through social networks.

The first edition of ’24 hours against cancer’ will take place at the ‘R11 Sport Club’ sports center in Mijas between April 22 and 23, 2023. The 24 hours a day have been divided into 48 blocks of half an hour, and anyone interested in participating in running can reserve the time slots that best suit them through the Correr Conciencia website through a €10 donation (per block). In addition, the donation platform will remain open from 3 days before and up to 3 days after the event so that people who cannot run have the opportunity to contribute their grain of sand to the project. Likewise, for paddle tennis lovers, the sports center organizes a paddle tennis tournament in parallel with the collaboration of RedBull and Drop Shot.

Tito Belascoain, president of Correr Conciencia recalls that “cancer continues to be the second leading cause of death worldwide, so it is necessary to continue investing in research and raising awareness about the importance of leading a healthy life to prevent it.” Similarly, Belascoain points out that “with this project we want to show that sport can be a very powerful tool to fight this disease and that we can all do something to contribute to this cause.”

Solidarity sports projects

All the donations collected will go to Correr Conciencia (correrconciencia.com), a non-profit association that develops solidarity sports projects to raise funds against cancer and raise awareness about the importance of research in the fight against the disease uniting sport, solidarity and investigation. In addition, thanks to the financial and strategic consultant Edventure, each kilometer traveled will be converted into one euro for cancer research that will go directly to the CMC Chair at the University of Granada.

The project has the support of renowned athletes from Malaga such as Borja VivasOlympic athlete specializing in shot put, swimmer Christian Jongeneel and Javier Diaz Carretero, sampedreño athlete. ’24 hours against cancer’ has the indispensable sponsorship of Inevents for the assembly of the event, DiezBajoCero for the production and retransmission of the streaming and Edventure for the conversion of the kilometers traveled into euros for research.
